Karen Skoczynski is an experienced leader in the Federal Government where she has 20 years of progressive experience. She received the 2023 Karen M. Snider Community Philanthropist Award from the Foundation for Enhancing Communities for her work in Central Pennsylvania.
In 2023 & 2022, she was the recipient of the Commissioner's Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award. She was named the class speaker of the 2019 Leadership Harrisburg Area’s Community Leadership Series. Karen recently completed the Partnership for Public Service, Excellence in Government Fellowship Program. She holds a Bachelors degree from Kutztown University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Pennsylvania State University.
Karen was born with congenital hearing loss and is fluent in American Sign Language & Spanish. Karen is a novice beekeeper, avid reader, gardener, and woodworker. She volunteers with local non-profits organizations such as Project Share Food Bank, Peyton Walker Foundation for Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness, and the Carlisle Tool Library. She serves as a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop, President of the Cumberland Valley Girls Basketball Booster Club. Karen and her family run the Shaull Elementary Community Garden to provide educational opportunities and fresh vegetables to the community.
